Southern Utah Beats CS Northridge
CEDAR CITY, Utah — Senior forward Peter Johnson scored 34 points, 27 in the first half, to lead Southern Utah to a 100-79 victory over Cal State Northridge in a nonconference college basketball game Saturday night.
Dana Achtzehn added 18 points for the Thunderbirds (15-11). Sean Peterson and DaVor Marcelic had 12 each.
David Swanson led the Matadors (8-18) with 12 points, and Sean Davis had 10.
The Thunderbirds took a 29-13 lead with 9:40 to play in the first half and coasted to a 52-33 halftime advantage.
Northridge scored 12 consecutive points midway through the second half to pull within 80-67 with 8:08 to play, but Southern Utah came back and put the game away with seven in a row.
