Clash Continues Over Uta Ranke-Heinemann
It’s so typical of the intolerant person to condemn a book he hasn’t read as Cardinal John O’Connor did with Uta Ranke-Heinemann’s “Eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven” (“Clashing with Her Church,” Feb. 11).
Ranke-Heinemann mentions that people laugh at members of the Catholic hierarchy because of their negative views on birth control, priestly celibacy and women priests.
This may be true in Europe. Here, most Catholics seldom give any thought to members of the hierarchy. They barely tolerate them. Members of the hierarchy who insist on absolute control and absolute obedience are totally ignored.
