Machine Tool Orders Plummet: The orders plunged by nearly a third in January, but demand should strengthen as the year goes on, a trade group said. The orders fell to just under $200 million last month, the Assn. for Manufacturing Technology said. They were down 32% from December but less than 1% from January, 1990.
