War Resister Wants Discharge Upgraded

RENTON, Wash. — A man who sought release from the Navy as a conscientious objector after the invasion of Panama and refused to report for duty in the Persian Gulf says he deserves a general discharge.
Warren Davis, 21, released last week after two months in the brig at the Miramar Naval Air Station near San Diego, said he was happy to return home to Renton but will appeal his “other than honorable discharge.”
In November, shortly before his unit was sent to the Gulf, Davis returned home. He was arrested Dec. 13 and charged with desertion.
