SANTA ANA : 2 Drivers Injured in Car Collision

A 20-year-old Santa Ana man lost control of his car on Monday and crashed into a pickup truck, injuring himself and the other driver, police said.

Both drivers were in stable condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after the 12:30 p.m. accident, which occurred near the intersection of Hobart Street and Standard Avenue, police said.

Zeferino Medrano, the driver of a Ford sedan, was southbound on Standard Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to pass another southbound car, police said.

Medrano swerved into the northbound lanes and struck a Ford pickup truck driven by Charles Foster, 33, of Newport Beach, police said.

Foster suffered a cut to his head and Medrano sustained severe cuts and complained of pain in his shoulder and back, police said.

No citations were issued pending the outcome of an investigation into the accident.
