Chartwell Files Lawsuit Against Avon: Chartwell Associates announced today that it has filed a lawsuit in the New York State Supreme Court against Avon Products Inc. and the Avon directors not affiliated with Chartwell. The suit seeks to enjoin Avon from changing the record date of its upcoming annual meeting of shareholders to April 2 from March 13, 1991. The suit also seeks damages against the Avon directors not affiliated with Chartwell for, among other things, breaching their fiduciary duties to Avon shareholders and for waste of corporate assets.
