HONG KONG: Although economists are forecasting a slowdown for some of the stronger economies in the Pacific Rim, Hong Kong authorities are predicting modest growth for the financially robust British protectorate. Hong Kong’s economy will grow 3.5% in 1991, more than 1 percentage point higher than the growth rate in 1990, according to economic officials’ projections. The Hong Kong economy has been buoyed by exports, which rose 12% to $82 billion in 1990.
