THOUSAND OAKS : Disabled Access to Plaza to Be Weighed
The Thousand Oaks City Council will consider handicapped access when it meets Tuesday to review architectural plans for a $63-million civic arts plaza.
City Council members asked for revisions in the plans by Venice-based architect Antoine Predock and Dworsky Associates of Los Angeles after citizens last month criticized the original design.
The 200,000-square-foot development includes a City Hall, a 400-seat theater and an 1,800-seat performing arts center.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 2150 W. Hillcrest Drive.
In addition to evaluating the complex’s accessibility for the handicapped, the council will discuss the proposed entrances and exits to the performing arts center and access to a parking structure.
The city is building the project on 20 acres at Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Conejo School Road, the site of the former Jungleland wild animal park.
