Aztecs Finish 7th in Marriott Tourney
The San Diego State men’s tennis team, ranked 25th in the nation, defeated Southeast Louisiana, 5-4, to take seventh place in the 16-team Irvine Marriott Tournament Sunday at UC Irvine.
No. 2 Joe McDonough beat Dallibor Pivcevic, 6-3, 7-5 to lead the Aztecs. Other singles winners for SDSU were Michael Sass and Jeff Bellolli.
Bellolli also teamed with Dax Peterson to win in doubles. They are ranked 23rd nationally. Ricardo Herrera and McDonough also won in doubles.
GOLF
El Cajon’s Brian Smock had a second-round 74 to finish at 148, placing seventh in the boys’ 15-18 division at the American Junior Golf Assn.’s Taylor Made Woodlands Junior Classic at the par-72 Woodlands Country Club North Course in The Woodlands, Tex.
San Diego’s Michael Ruiz shot 77-75--152.
