A man suspected of robbing two people of a car, money and jewelry at gunpoint was arrested Monday following an accident, police said.
Carlos Casa, 20, an unemployed construction worker from El Cajon, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Monday after witnesses identified him as the driver of a car that crashed into a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Richardson Avenue, police said. Police said residents, awakened by the crash, reported seeing Casa and a female companion flee on foot. Casa was booked into County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery, auto theft, and drunken and hit-and-run driving, police said.
Mary Reeves, 42, of El Cajon was also arrested and was taken to the Las Colinas Jail in Santee on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Police said Shabram Firouznia, 20, a student from Los Angeles, stopped her car in the 250 block of West Park Avenue in El Cajon about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to ask directions. A man then robbed Firouznia and an unidentified companion of an undetermined amount of cash, jewelry and Firouznia’s car.
A pistol and some of the victims’ stolen property were found in the car Monday, police said.
