COUNTYWIDE : Supervisors to Vote on Traffic Study

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors will decide today whether to form an advisory panel to study solutions to traffic and growth problems in the burgeoning Santa Rosa Valley.

The unincorporated area east of Camarillo has grown so fast that the board last month unanimously rejected a rezoning proposal for the valley, saying it would add too many residents and traffic to an already-congested area.

The rezoning proposal would have converted 332 acres of agricultural land to one-acre residential sites, adding more than 900 residents to the area.

During consideration of that proposal, Supervisor Vicky Howard suggested that an advisory panel be formed to study problems of growth and traffic in the valley.

The panel would include two supervisors and representatives of the cities of Camarillo and Moorpark, several county departments and the Santa Rosa Valley homeowners associations.

If approved, the panel would meet for the first time in late April or early May. Howard’s staff would coordinate future meetings.
