Motorcyclist Dies in Collision With Car
A motorcyclist died after he was hit by a car and thrown across a Van Nuys intersection Sunday night, Los Angeles police said.
Balious Street, 19, of Van Nuys was riding north on Balboa Boulevard about 5:55 p.m. when he attempted to turn left onto Sherman Way, Officer Frank Zdroy said. His motorcycle was hit by a car that was also turning left, knocking Street across the intersection and into another car, Zdroy said.
He died about 20 minutes later at Northridge Hospital Medical Center from massive head injuries. It was not reported whether Street was wearing a helmet.
Jeffrey Moss, 21, of Tujunga told police that he was leaving a parking lot and trying to get into the left-turn lane when he saw Street speed up behind him on his motorcycle. Moss said Street was trying to pass him at about 55 m.p.h. when he hit the left side of Moss’ car.
Moss was not cited or arrested, but Zdroy said the investigation into the accident is continuing.
