AWESOME: Laguna Beach is considering upping the freight at some of its parking meters (B5), looking to rake in still more dough from folks searching for somewhere to leave the car, especially when they’re heading for the beach. . . . Second only to Laguna, Huntington Beach takes in a bit under $100,000 annually from non-beach parking meters, $348,000 from meters along Pacific Coast Highway, and a whopping $920,000 from meters and attendants at the beach.

Coining Money

A sampling of cities and revenue (in the millions) they reported receiving from parking meters in the 1989-90 fiscal year.

Laguna Beach: $1.6

Newport Beach: $1.1

San Clemente: $.25

Santa Ana: $.16
