Santa Clara Beats Nordhoff, 7-1, With No-Hitter
Right-hander William Edwards threw a no-hitter to lead Santa Clara High to a 7-1 victory over Nordhoff in a Frontier League game at Nordhoff on Monday.
Edwards, a senior, struck out 10, walked none and improved to 3-0.
Nordhoff scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth on three Santa Clara (5-3, 2-1) errors.

Palmdale 10, Saugus 5--Chris Tampoya had two doubles and Travis Wilson drove in two runs to lead Palmdale (5-2, 2-0) in a Golden League game at home.
San Fernando 3, El Camino Real 1--San Fernando right-hander Rick Savala threw a three-hitter, struck out five and walked two in a Northwest Valley Conference game at San Fernando.
Reseda 9, Kennedy 2--Jesse Yeomans tossed a five-hitter and struck out 11 to lead host Reseda (2-4, 1-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Cleveland 5, Taft 1--Tony Holodnak (1-1) tossed a complete-game three-hitter, and Dave Cipolla’s bases-loaded triple highlighted a four-run fourth inning for host Cleveland (2-5, 2-5) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Sylmar 5, Monroe 1--Right-handers James Encinas (2-1) and Jimmy Lemos combined on a one-hitter to lead Sylmar in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at home.
Grant 16, Canoga Park 6--Petur Georgesson’s grand slam sparked a 10-run outburst in the fourth inning for Grant in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Lanark Park.
Van Nuys 6, North Hollywood 2--Alex Alvarenga’s second double, a bases-loaded shot that scored two runs, highlighted a four-run eighth inning for Van Nuys (2-3, 2-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at North Hollywood.
