Joffrey Tribute: As a tribute to the young choreographer Edward Stierle, who died March 8 of AIDS, the Joffrey Ballet is adding his first work, “Lacrymosa” to its spring repertoire. The ballet, which had its Los Angeles premiere just a year ago, is set to excerpts from Mozart’s “Requiem” (music Mozart was composing at the time of his death in 1791) and deals with the acceptance of death. The Joffrey also will be performing Stierle’s new ballet, “Empyrean Dances,” which symbolizes the rebuilding of the spirit and hope. The Joffrey will have its 35th anniversary season at the Music Center May 7 to June 2, and has announced special discounts for military personnel and children.
