Immigrants Defended
The U.S. immigration quota has been raised to provide a needed youthful work base. We are living longer and reproducing ourselves less.
Being born in the United States is not the “deplorable, socially irresponsible behavior” Pamela Lechtman contends in her March 7 letter, in which she calls for measures to reduce the current Latino “birth glut,” at the Ventura County Medical Center.
Lechtman also laments poor Mexican and Central American immigrants’ ignorance of family planning. Meanwhile, we “natives” have already family-planned ourselves out of the future.
