SLOW DANCE: The Pacific Symphony is facing tough times in fund-raising land. The symphony has sold fewer than 250 tickets for Saturday’s $175-per-person ball. Last year, 380 tickets were sold. . . . The ball will feature high-society bandleader Peter Duchin and his orchestra, flown out from New York for what is billed as the group’s first county appearance. An executive says the symphony’s concerts have been selling out, but many groups are complaining that “social party-type events are doing more poorly.”
