Rick Sutcliffe was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago Cubs even though he pitched six strong innings Monday.
Sutcliffe, 34, who won the National League Cy Young Award in 1984, will remain in Arizona when the club heads north Friday and will continue rehabilitation on his right shoulder. The 6-foot-7 Sutcliffe missed most of last season after shoulder surgery.
