Previn Exit: Andre Previn will step down as principal guest conductor of the London-based Royal Philharmonic at the end of the 1991-92 season. Previn, former L.A. Philharmonic music director, is leaving because “he spends very little time in England these days, and doesn’t like to travel,” a spokesman said. Previn’s post will not be filled, since RPO music director Vladimir Ashkenazy, a close friend of Previn’s, continues “to devote more and more time to the orchestra.” Previn, at home in New York, was unavailable for comment. He will be 62 on Saturday.
