Producer Profits Dip: Manufacturers’ profits slipped 1.3 cents per sales dollar during the fourth quarter of 1990 over the previous quarter, according to preliminary data from the Commerce Department. Seasonally adjusted after-tax profits averaged $20.3 billion--or 2.8 cents per dollar, a 30.7% decrease from the third quarter, the government said. But sales edged up slightly, with a $713.8 billion total that was up 0.7%.
