La Verne : Assessment District Fees
The City Council has approved a formula drafted by City Engineer Dominic Milano for a citywide assessment district approved by voters last November.
The plan assesses single-family homes and multifamily units on public streets $96 a year. Homes and multifamily units on private streets are charged $77, and businesses will be required to pay from $288 to $432 per acre.
The district is technically for landscaping and lighting, but the money raised will free money already used for those purposes to maintain police and fire services.
Mayor Jon Harry Blickenstaff said that the money will not solve all of La Verne’s money problems and that the city still needs more commercial development.
