South El Monte : No Renewal of Club License
The City Council refused to renew the public eating license of a North Durfee Avenue club that had been on probation for what officials said were numerous incidents involving drugs, thefts and weapons violations.
Last week’s decision ends the 90-day probation the council had voted in January for Joe & Aldo’s Club, 1935 N. Durfee Ave. Deputy City Manager Steve Henley said the club had violated two conditions of the probation, that it have two security guards on duty from 5 p.m. to closing and that it report any criminal incident to the city within 72 hours.
No applications have been submitted to the city for approval for the guard jobs, Henley said. Also, the club did not report the March 3 arrest of a man for possession of rock cocaine, Sheriff’s Lt. Anthony Torres said.
Denying the renewal sets the stage for revocation of the club’s license, which will be considered at the April 11 council meeting, Henley said.
