Santa Fe Springs : Pipe for Reclaimed Water to Run Underneath School

Board members of the Little Lake City School District voted unanimously Tuesday to let the local water authority install a pipeline underneath Lake Center School and the district’s administrative offices, both of which are on Pioneer Boulevard in Santa Fe Springs.

The Central Basin Municipal Water District pipeline will be part of a reclaimed-water program. The goal is to use treated water from sewage plants to irrigate parks and other areas that do not require drinking-quality water.

Supt. John V. Pulice said the water district will pay Little Lake $1,250 for the right to install the pipeline.

The reclaimed water will come from the nearby Los Coyotes reclamation plant, and will also be used by Downey, South Gate, Norwalk, Lynwood, Bellflower and Compton.
