Delay of New System Keeps Libraries Open

The San Diego County Library’s 32 branches, originally scheduled to close today for installation of an automated book checkout system, will remain open because of problems in receiving and installing the software, a library spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Power outages caused by storms have delayed the library’s attempt to receive and install the system, librarian Kathleen Honeysett said.

The County Library has tentatively rescheduled the closing date for Tuesday or Wednesday. Patrons are encouraged to call their local library branch for details, Honeysett said.
