COLLEGE ROUNDUP : CLU’s Hill Posts 100th Baseball Win
Rich Hill notched his 100th win in his fourth season as Cal Lutheran baseball coach as the Kingsmen rolled past host Westmont, 9-4, in an NAIA District 3 game Wednesday.
Hill, who has coached Cal Lutheran to a 13-6 record this season, is 100-59 since taking over the program. Cal Lutheran won the District 3 postseason tournament last year.
Jeff Parsons paced Cal Lutheran, going two for three with five runs batted in. He hit a three-run, pinch-hit home run in the fourth inning.

Azusa Pacific 15, The Master’s 6--David Hanna had six RBIs in Azusa Pacific’s 12-run fifth inning in an NAIA District 3 game at Master’s. Hanna had a three-run double and a three-run home run in the fifth.
Canyons 1, Bakersfield 0--Sophomore right-hander Chad Phillips threw a five-hitter, struck out five and walked none to lead Canyons in a Western State Conference game at home. Canyons (13-12-1, 8-2 in conference play) scored the game’s lone run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Jon Beauchemin.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Palomar d. Canyons, 15-10, 15-2, 11-15, 15-10--Eric Henkels had 24 kills and Rick Phillips had six stuff blocks for Canyons (6-10, 2-9) in a Western State Conference game at Palomar in San Diego.
SOFTBALL
Moorpark 4, Bakersfield 3 (eight innings)--Moorpark overcame a three-run deficit to prevail in a battle of unbeaten WSC teams at Moorpark. Tammi Kauffman scored the winning run on a run-scoring single by Kathy Morales. Julie Coert tied the score, 3-3, with a leadoff home run in the seventh.
Morales (11-2) earned the win for Moorpark (18-5, 4-0). Bakersfield is 3-1 in conference play.
Cal Lutheran 8-3, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 3-4--Kim White, Alysa Mathews and Brenda Frafjord each homered to lead Cal Lutheran in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader.
Cal Lutheran fell to 15-1.
