Culver City : Transit Service Cited
Culver City has been honored for its transportation service for disabled and elderly people.
The city was given the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission’s first Metro Award for doing the most to improve or provide transit access to physically disabled and elderly residents of the county. The Culver City program, which uses vans with wheelchair lifts, provides transportation to more than 33,000 riders a year, according to officials.
The award was the first of monthly honors to cities, transit operators and their employees who have significantly improved transportation in the county. Future awards will be in different categories, such as environmental awareness, community outreach, and clean and courteous transportation for commuters.
