Pomegranate Seeks the Fashion Set

At the new restaurant Pomegranate, it’s possible to get a lot of reading done. There are several newspapers--mostly written in Italian and French--lying around, and a selection of fashion magazines--including several copies of the premier issue of Allure, the magazine devoted to beauty. (Allure had its L.A. opening party at the restaurant.)

Pomegranate’s goal, it seems, is to attract an international fashion model crowd.

It’s a large, open space, with plenty of places to pose. There are leather-covered benches, wide enough to hold a whole clique of Elite models. There is the curvy counter, where the stools are converted motorcycle seats. There is a curvy polished steel bar--but no alcohol yet. (“Would you like pomegranate juice?” the waitress cheerfully offers.) And there are modified diner-style tables (more curves) with arty takes on the ‘50s vinyl kitchen chair.

The food--of the eclectic sweet-is-good school--isn’t particularly together yet. That may or may not come with time.
