Du Pont Agrees to Sell Coal Unit to Germans

WILMINGTON, Del. — Du Pont Co. said it has reached a preliminary agreement to sell 50% of its Consolidation Coal Co. and its other coal interests to a German company.
Du Pont did not disclose the value of the transaction with Rheinbraun AG, a Cologne-based subsidiary of RWE AG. Rheinbraun would be required to pay Du Pont cash and the contribution from its other U.S. coal interests.
