Debate Over Multiculturalism

I read with great inspiration Patricia Biederman’s article “Professor’s Comments on Multiculturalism Cause Furor at College” (Part B, March 21).

Thank God that there are still individuals in this hypocritical society who have the guts to question the intellectual value of “ethnic studies.” Our community appears to be inundated with self-appointed cultural leaders who overreact to any hint, real or imaginary, of racial criticism.

Minorities have cried “racism” every time any hint of criticism arises to the point of lunacy. This scenario of crying wolf, whenever convenient, has worked wonders in obtaining political concessions.

Let us pray for more professors like Ernest Buchholz to restore integrity, as well as sanity, to our society.
