No Traces of Tampering Found in Poisoned Milk
No traces of tampering were found by the Food and Drug Administration in tests of a La Lechera condensed milk can that contained traces of PCP that poisoned four members of a Pasadena family in February.
The federal agency also found no tampering in 14 other cans that came from the same store where Yolanda Aldaz bought the milk. “It’s closed as far as we’re concerned,” said FDA spokeswoman Irene Gomez. The FBI is still continuing its investigation, Gomez said.
The poisoning of Aldaz, her two children and her 57-year-old mother prompted Nestle USA Inc. to begin nationwide testing of milk in cans bearing the same manufacturing codes. But no other traces of PCP were found.
