FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Deputies Arrest Man in Sexual Assault
Orange County sheriff’s deputies Friday arrested a 35-year-old auto detailer wanted in connection with a sexual assault on an El Toro woman.
Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said Tracy William Barton was arrested in 18000 block of Mt. Baldy Circle in Fountain Valley, where he was detailing an automobile. Olson said Barton did not resist arrest.
The victim, Olson said, was assaulted early Sunday morning as she returned home to her apartment in the 20000 block of Canada Court in El Toro.
According to Olson, a man grabbed the 22-year-old woman from behind and knocked her to the ground, then forced her to a nearby drainage ditch, where he assaulted her.
Investigators determined Barton’s identity through interviews and obtained a warrant for his arrest Wednesday, said Olson, who declined to say more about how investigators learned of Barton’s identity.
