James E. Moore; Retired Funeral Counselor
James (Jimmy) E. Moore, who worked 41 years at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, has died in a Glendale hospital. He was 62.
A longtime Glendale resident, Moore died Monday of a combination of various ailments, said a Los Angeles County coroner’s office spokesman.
Born in Chanute, Kan., Moore graduated from Glendale High School and began working as an attendant at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale in 1949. Moore retired last year after working more than 30 years as a funeral counselor.
He is survived by sons Steven J. Moore of Palmdale and Michael Wayne Moore of Simi Valley; daughter Cynthia Halberstadt of Palmdale; sister Marlene R. MacLellan, and four grandchildren. In 1951, he married Janith Pelow and the couple divorced in the mid-1980s.
A funeral is planned for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Recessional at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 S. Glendale Ave. in Glendale. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills. Forest Lawn Mortuary in Glendale is handling the arrangements.
