Hal Minter; President of L.A. Convention Center Authority
Hal Minter, 82, president of the Los Angeles Convention and Exhibition Center Authority and a retired automobile dealership executive, died Saturday in Los Angeles of the complications of a stroke.
Minter, who held a master’s degree from Columbia University, went to the Exhibition Center commission after a career as general manager of Mercedes-Benz of Hollywood.
Minter was appointed to the commission in 1976 and became its president in 1990. Recently the commission has been overseeing an expansion of the Convention Center that will more than double its square footage.
He also had been a member of the organizing committee for the 1984 Olympics held in Los Angeles.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son, a daughter and four grandchildren, who ask contributions in his name to the American Cancer Society.
