HUMOR
I disagree with Gargan’s statement that TV-viewing Americans have forgotten how to laugh. The bland humor we see on television is designed for a bland audience.
However, being a Chaucer chuckler and a Groening guffawer, I am occasionally surprised with a Monty Python special on the tube, during which I delight not only in chortling and choking but rolling around on the floor. Although the article didn’t even mention this archaic act, there are still a few of us left who “just say no” to barking.
