U.S. Travel Booklet Offers Deals

The annual “Travel America at Halfprice” coupon booklet, available by toll-free phone, offers discounts on hotels, motels and restaurants across the country. Accommodations in Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean are also listed, as well as some Canadian restaurants.

In addition, discount coupons, primarily two admissions for the price of one, are also provided for sightseeing attractions. Automotive-related coupons for such services/products as tuneups, shock absorbers and batteries are another feature.

More than 1,500 hotels offer 50% savings off regular room rates. The discount is available for a traveler’s entire stay, not just the first night.

Travelers can obtain a confirmed reservation by contacting the hotel in advance, then presenting their Entertainment Travel America card, which comes with the booklet, upon arrival.

Hotel rooms are on a space-available basis. Various restrictions may be in effect, such as rooms only being available certain days of the week, or minimum/maximum stays. In most cases, however, the discount is available any time.

Restaurants participating in the program offer coupons worth 25% off the total check amount for one to four persons dining together. Tax, tip and alcoholic beverages are extra, and thus not included in the discount.

Travelers don’t have to make reservations at a restaurant to use a coupon; they only need to show the coupon before the bill is added up.

Most of the coupons for sightseeing attractions have maps on the back.
