SANTA ANA : Trustee Says He Will Seek a Full Term
Gerardo Mouet, who was appointed to the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education last year, has announced that he will seek a full four-year term on the board.
Mouet, 33, announced his candidacy for the November election while addressing the Santa Ana School Administrators Assn. last week.
“I have a few months to work hard and show that I can deliver,” Mouet said to the group. “I will ask the voters of our community to support me so that I can continue my efforts for the benefit of the children and our future.”
Last November, Mouet was chosen from among 12 applicants to fill the remainder of the term vacated by Robert L. Richardson, who stepped down from the five-member board when he was elected to the Santa Ana City Council.
Mouet, an employee of the city of Santa Ana’s personnel services department, is responsible for overseeing the city’s affirmative action plan. He is also chairman of the Orange County Fair Housing Council.
The candidate filing period for the next school board election begins in July, according to the Orange County registrar of voters.
Other board members whose terms expire in November are Board President Sal Mendoza and Audrey Yamagata-Noji. Mendoza announced his candidacy last month.
