Former CSUN Assistant Fehte to Stay With St. Mary’s Program
Former Cal State Northridge assistant basketball coach Dave Fehte, who turned St. Mary’s around as interim head coach last season, will stay with the basketball program as an assistant. Fehte, 30, was named Tuesday to assist Ernie Kent. Kent, a former assistant at Stanford, Colorado State and Oregon, was hired March 14.
The Gaels were 9-8 under Fehte, finishing fourth in the West Coast Conference regular-season standings before reaching the final of the postseason tournament. He began the season as an assistant to Paul Landreaux, who was fired when the team’s record was 4-9.
A six-year assistant at CSUN, Fehte also served as an assistant at Chatsworth and Cleveland highs and Pierce College.
