Bomb Found in Coronado
A home-made bomb was found on the Coronado city beach Saturday by a passerby who started to disassemble it before he realized that it might be dangerous.
The man, whom police did not identify, then brought it to Coronado police headquarters.
A Sheriff’s Department bomb detail was called to render the device harmless.
It was described as 6 inches long and an inch in diameter, filled with gunpowder. The bomb was found in the central area of the public beach near the restrooms, about three blocks north of the Hotel Del Coronado.
