Little Leagues, Clubs to Share Hall of Fame Donation
The Orange County Sports Hall of Fame has awarded $16,450 to youth sports programs, including two $5,000 awards to Little League programs for the refurbishing of their fields.
Garry Templeton Little League in Santa Ana and East Anaheim National Little League will receive a portion of the funds. The awards are part of the “Field of Dreams” program, which was funded by the Angels and Major League Baseball after the 1989 All-Star Game.
The rest of the donation will be divided among these organizations: the Irvine Junior Games, Laguna Beach Volleyball, the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of the South Coast Area, Capistrano American Legion, Huntington Beach Junior All-American Football, San Clemente Soccer Club, El Toro Pony Baseball, East Placentia Little League, and the East Anaheim American Little League.
Funding for those awards comes from the Hall of Fame’s charity golf tournament. The upcoming tournament is scheduled May 22 at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. To sign up for the scramble tournament call (714) 935-0199.
