City of Hate?: Dallas residents are fearful that the movie Oliver Stone is filming about the assassination of John F. Kennedy could prompt Americans to again see Dallas as “The City of Hate.” Filming begins today in Dallas on “JFK,” a film about the investigations into the November, 1963, murder of President Kennedy. Many key locations around Dallas will be used and certain buildings have been dressed to appear as they did in 1963. But the city did not welcome Stone with open arms--only after three close votes did the Dallas County Commissioners Court agree to his request to film around the “sniper’s perch,” where Lee Harvey Oswald fired the fatal shots at Kennedy from the sixth floor of a building.
