Trout Angling for Cash Set at Lake Isabella
More than $60,000 in cash prizes will be at stake for the 5,000 anglers expected to participate in the annual Lake Isabella Fishing Derby Saturday and Sunday.
About 1,000 tagged trout--most weighing about 1 1/2 pounds, but some more than 15--will be released into the Kern County reservoir and river, between Kernville and the lake, before the event.
The top prize is $10,000. Tagged fish caught after the derby can be cashed in by registered fishermen until June 16.
Prospective entrants should call (619) 379-2691 before Saturday.
