Apple Settles Claims of Racial Bias: Apple Computer Inc. will pay $436,687 to settle racial bias claims filed by 15 qualified blacks who were denied full-time jobs at an assembly plant near San Jose. As part of the settlement, in which Apple did not admit guilt, the company offered jobs to all 15 people who complained to the federal government in January, 1990. All but one accepted, the company said.
