Rams Open ’91 Season in Anaheim
ANAHEIM — If the Rams are going to flip-flop from their 5-11 flop of 1990, the NFL schedule-makers have decided the Rams will have to prove it early. Or else.
The Rams open the 1991 regular season at home against the Phoenix Cardinals, then work their way through three consecutive road games against playoff teams, beginning with the world-champion New York Giants, followed by the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers.
If you throw in the Rams’ next game, at home against the Green Bay Packers, the Rams open 1991 against five opponents they were a combined 1-5 against a season ago.
After a three-game road swing, the Rams play nine of the next 11 weeks without having to leave the state of California. They have the NFC West bye in Week 6, face the San Diego Chargers in Anaheim, play the Raiders at the L.A. Coliseum, play in Atlanta, then play five home games over the next six weeks.
The Rams will close their regular season in Seattle on ESPN, one of three prime time games on their schedule--including a Monday night matchup at home against the 49ers. Last year, the Rams were 0-4 in their prime time games, losing by a combined score of 125-46.
