Woodlands Park Support Cloudy
Environmentalists have been much involved in the exciting proposal to create a state park out of 600 acres of an unspoiled wild area north of the San Fernando Valley. The California Department of Parks and Recreation has made a feasibility study of this possible Santa Clarita Woodlands Park and is most enthusiastic about acquiring the property.
Since the 12th Councilmanic District borders on this county property, we felt it was important that the public be told how their councilperson felt about the issue. On March 17, the Los Angeles Audubon Society sent a letter to candidates for City Council in the district, asking them where they stood on the park.
Hal Bernson did not write, but an aide called and said that the councilman had supported the proposition last November that provided the money for the park.
He couldn’t identify the proposition. When told that there was no state or county proposition on the ballot that pertained to the Santa Clarita Woodlands Park he simply insisted that Mr. Bernson had supported this nonexistent measure.
Julie Korenstein wrote a letter to us saying that she strongly supports the park.
