Mandatory Helmet Law
Why is it that instead of actually trying to correct a problem, the Legislature likes a quick fix? Case in point is the helmet bill.
The average motorcycle helmet does restrict peripheral vision and hearing. You may spout all those meaningless statistics and denials, but if you merely don one of these helmets and drive around for awhile, you would know the truth mighty quickly.
If there were any real effort to decrease the accident rate, more attention would be directed toward better licensing requirements and novice training. But then that wouldn’t be a quick fix, would it?
