With its lavender-framed storefront windows and cozy, parlor-like gallery, Here Comes the Sun is inviting to browsers, especially shopping-weary ones. Owners Rima Lyn and Deborah Lipman have created in Venice a place where customers can sit comfortably for a spell amid the drawings, hand-tinted photos and, in almost every nook and cranny, crafts--all from local talent. There are abstract glass sculptures ($70 to $90) by Marla Sheehan, luminous perfume bottles ($38 to $68) by Kent Kahlen and magical “Wishmaker” jewelry ($10 and up) by Wendi Otto.

But the undisputed head-turner is a five-drawer dresser hand-painted with scenes from “The Wizard of Oz.” Scarecrow, Tin Man and Toto, too, appear on Venice artist Wendy Phillip’s $2,800 creation, which comes with a mirror framed in faux emeralds and inscribed, “Surrender Dorothy.”
