HONG KONG: A coalition of Los Angeles business and civic leaders will be trying to lure Hong Kong investment into the Southland as part of Los Angeles Week in Hong Kong from Thursday through April 30. The group, headed by Los Angeles City Councilman Michael Woo and Unocal Chairman Richard Stegemeier, hopes to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding the 1997 takeover of Hong Kong by the Chinese. The idea was hatched by a group of Chinese-American businessmen, many with roots in Hong Kong.
