The Plight of the Kurds

The decision not to go after Hussein was a political one and not a military one, as Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf aptly pointed out. President Bush did not want any more American casualties because that would have been unpopular and cause his ratings to drop in the polls. Bush defined Hussein as another Hitler, but America did not stop at the border of Germany and allow Hitler to survive whereas Hussein was deliberately kept in power.

As a result of Bush’s decision, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children are fleeing for their lives while being slaughtered by the Hitler/Hussein that Bush left in power, while Bush concerns himself with his popularity polls and the 1992 election.
