Gulf Aid Fund Studied

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Finance officials from six Persian Gulf nations met Monday to consider financial aid to help Arab allies in the Gulf War move toward free-market economies.
The Gulf Cooperation Council’s members are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar. Their leaders agreed in December they would set up a fund of $10 billion to $15 billion to aid Egypt, Syria and other nations that helped drive Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait.
