LA PALMA : Big Rig Overturns, Snarling Traffic
A 40-foot tractor-trailer loaded with heavy forklift parts overturned on Orangethorpe Avenue Tuesday, slightly injuring the driver and delaying morning traffic for hours.
The rig flipped as it was turning onto Orangethorpe from an off-ramp of the eastbound Riverside Freeway at 9:30 a.m., La Palma Police Sgt. James Wells said. It was not clear how fast the truck was traveling.
The driver, Enemias Padilla Orellana, 30, of Los Angeles, was treated at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital and released.
Police closed Orangethorpe in both directions from Valley View Street to Walker Street. The freeway entrance and exit also were closed as workers used cranes to right the rig and remove it, Wells said.
The street was not open to through traffic until nearly 3 p.m.
